“Caring Fellowship: At Christ We Are One Church Family” is the fourth of four videos that highlight each area of the mission statement of Christ Lutheran Church.
The mission of Christ Lutheran Church is to connect people to Jesus through:
so that they might know, and grow in, His love.
We’d love for your family to grow with us this summer during Vacation Bible School as we take a cross-cultural tour of the country of Norway. This is an opportunity on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am from May 29 – August 28 for children age 3 – Grade 5 to experience God’s eternal love for the world.
This summer’s sermon series began on Sunday, June 5 and runs through September 4th. It is entitled: “The Most Dangerous Sermon Ever Preached”, and it will take a look at a different piece of Jesus’ famed “Sermon on the Mount” each week. We will discover the thoroughly radical nature of Jesus’ sermon and why it was dangerous – dangerous for Jesus to preach and dangerous for us to follow.
This year our Kingdom Quest kids are going on a journey with Jesus from the Manger to the Mountaintop. Be a part of our shepherds/teachers, puppeteers, and special projects team. Join us on Wednesday, August 31st from 6:30-8:00 pm for planning and pizza. We’ll be talking about things in preparation for ’16-’17 Sunday mornings with our Nursery, Age 3-Grade 5, and Middle School/HS. Please contact Jordan for details and to RSVP.
Save the Date – On September 8th after Bible class we will carpool and go to eat lunch at the Leaning Pear in Wimberley. After lunch we have reservations at 2 pm at the Wimberley Glass Works on RR 12 for a glassblowing demonstration. The cost of the demonstration is $2 per person. We need to know by September 6th how many people will be at lunch. The lunch menu can be accessed at the Leaning Pears web site, and the prices are 10 and under for lunch. Please contact the Church Office if you plan to join us.
Make plans to celebrate Christian Education with us on Sunday, September 11, and to support the Building Improvement Fund. Tickets for the BBQ meal ($8 for adults and $4 for children 5-12 years old) are currently for sale. As you are able, please sign up in the Narthex to bring items like homemade and homegrown goods, and to help with the fun and games.
An American Heart Association certified instructor will be providing Heartsaver® Infant/Child/Adult CPR, AED, & First Aid training in the Fellowship Hall of Christ Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 17 or Saturday, September 24 from 9 am – 3 pm. The cost is $110 for General Public, and $80 for Students/Educators/Government Employees/Military.
The cost for the course includes all materials, and will be due the morning of the Saturday you attend upon arrival. Please note that the AHA just updated their manuals. If you have a current one, the cost of the manual will be taken off the course. Each student receives a one-way resuscitation mask that has adaptors for infant and child/adult that they will practice with and keep. Please make checks payable to “Christ Lutheran Church.” If we can get at least 10 people to take the course (over September 17 and 24) then the cost drops to $65 per-person! Maximum 10 people per Saturday session. On the morning of the course, we’ll let you know if we have received the Valued Client rate of $65. Please plan to bring your own lunch to the event.
The instructor has federal level training in emergency management, emergency response, and disaster management. He is licensed through the State of Texas as a Commissioned Security Officer and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
Unlike other many other training providers, this training is nationally accredited, OSHA compliant, comprehensive, and offers enough practice so students feel confident in performing these life-saving skills.
Please contact Jordan at 512-442-5844 or jordan AT christaustin DOT org for details and to sign up to participate in either session.
