COVID -19 Update

Mayor Adler has issued a ‘stay at home’ order for the city of Austin, which goes into effect March 24th at 11:59pm, and is scheduled to be in effect until April 13th.  So as of March 25, our offices at Christ Lutheran will be closed, as will be our sanctuary for worship.  You can still reach Pastor John on his cell phone, 512-673-2720, or Jordan on his cell phone, 512-542-1624, and we will still be live streaming our worship on Facebook. Please continue to tune in to our live stream worship services and continue to connect with each other as the body of Christ, if only through the various technological mediums that we have available to us.  Please feel free to email Pastor John ([email protected]) or call him with your concerns, worries, prayers, fears, etc.

Note from Pastor John

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus.  Well, things continue to change from day to day.  I would encourage you to use this time of ‘social distancing’ and ‘sheltering in place’ as a time to read God’s word.  We are a church who believes in the means of Grace, which are God’s word and His sacraments.  But, while we are separated from each other, His sacraments are not going to be available to most of us.  And thus the only means we have available to us through which to receive the gifts of God’s grace is His holy word.  Therefore, I exhort you to read, read, and read God’s word.  Give Him the opportunity to speak to you through His word and to proclaim to you His love and forgiveness for you. The strength, and courage, and comfort, and faith, and love, and forgiveness that you seek are all offered to you in His word.  Use this time at home and away from others as to gain a renewed love for, and appreciation of, God’s word.

Also, now is great time to make use of the many resources that we have available here on our website.  We have 1) ‘Gordy’ videos for children, and 2)we have sermons organized by a)books of the Bible, and b)by texts within each of those books, and c)by series title, and all dating back to 2010, and 3)we have information on how to give and support Christ Lutheran through online gifts, and 4)we have quick connections to our Facebook page, and Youtube videos, and our monthly newsletters, and our weekly bulletins…  just to name a few of things that can all be accessed here on our website.

Finally, pray.  Our world, our nation, our economy, and most of all, our people, need God.  Pray that He would intervene into our world and bring the hope and the healing that we all need, whatever that might look like and mean.  His will be done.  God be with us all.

“Wait on the Lord”
(Isaiah 40:30-31)

Lyrics – John C. Stennfeld

Music, vocals, and instruments –
Fred Frieling (AKA – Jess DeMaine)

(Title) Track #1 from “Wait on the Lord” Album

Isaiah 40:30-31

Even youths grow tired and weary,

and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the Lord

will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;

they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint.
